Donover Butler

Mr. Donover L. Butler

My name is Donover L. Butler and I am honored to serve as Assistant Principal at the great Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. High School. This is my16th year in the DeKalb County School District. I started my undergraduate at FAMU, finished at Brenau University, and attended Cambridge College for my master’s and specialist degree. Additionally, I have an associate’s in psychology. My first job as an educator was a para-professional and I taught middle school social studies. Over the years, I have participated in student and staff development by monitoring performance thus achieving overall objectives of a school’s curriculum at the middle and secondary level. I have essential knowledge in the processes, procedures and culture of DeKalb County Schools. As a community builder, I have established supportive relationships that enable parents and students from diverse backgrounds to express their personal thoughts, feelings, and experiences. In order for our youth to be successful, a personal relationship has to be established along with strong parental support. I am a firm proponent of the ideology that “The school cannot live apart from the community.”
